Menu planning + momAgenda = savings of time, $ and sanity

I just found this useful article, The Art of Menu Planning, which has some great tips on planning, organizing and shopping for the week.  I use the MomAgenda desktop planner (in lime), which has a place for each child’s activities, my appointments, and dinner for each night all in a stylish week-to-a-view layout.  When I make the time to plan out my week in advance, including juggling three carpools, doctor’s appointments and small details like my 60+-hour-a-week job, I feel much more organized and ready to handle anything that comes my way.  When I don’t make the time for this planning, I end up feeling harried, overscheduled, and burdened by the eternally nagging question “What will we make for dinner tonight?”

This never ends well, requiring yet another trip to the grocery store or, worse yet, ordering take-out or delivery.  Too many of those fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants-nights really add up ~ and dull the luster on my uber-mom tiara!

Did I mention that the momAgenda planners are now on sale at 50% off?! Just think of the savings ~ to your wallet, your time and, perhaps most importantly, your sanity!

By the way, I found the menu planning article while looking at Simple Mom Finds, after reviewing a blog post on the Simple Mom website, which was linked to by Hostess With the Mostess blogger Jennifer Sbranti on Twitter.  I love social networking!

Showing off

I’m playing Show and Tell today and inviting you to check out the new photos of our store, including window displays, in-store displays, and dresses made of tissue paper.  {Yes, really.} You can see the new images on the About Us page of our website.  Even more images are posted on our Facebook page.  {While you’re there, why not become a fan?}

Many of the images of our Chapel Hill store are courtesy of Nancy Ray Photography.  Nancy happened upon our store one day and was so inspired that she asked if she could start snapping some photos.  Her work is fantastic and she is a real pleasure.  See more shots of the store in her blog post about Salutations.

What the bride wore

I have been meaning for quite some time now to post about this amazing watercolor sketch of a paper wedding dress in our Chapel Hill store window.   Laura Frankstone is an infinitely talented artist who happens to live in Chapel Hill.  While walking by our boutique one day, she was so inspired by our wedding dress made of paper that she felt compelled to sketch it.

Laura has a wonderful blog called Laurelines that showcases her work beautifully.  See her blog post about our paper wedding dress, entitled What the Bride Wore.  So much talent!

Brock Moran Home: The Registry Launch Party

Last Thursday, I attended the launch celebration of Brock Moran Home‘s new wedding and gift registry.  Boy, was it fabulous!  Between the sophisticatedly elegant style sense of Brock McLendon, the meticulous attention to detail by Brock and event planner Dina Berg Blazek, the phenomenal sips and snacks catered by Chef Paul Verica from The Club at Longview, and the jaw-droppingly beautiful floral arrangements by Elements and In Bloom Ltd., the whole evening was inspirational!  And I haven’t even mentioned the expansive selection of top-notch tabletop lines now offered by Brock Moran for wedding and general gift-giving ~ lines like Arte Italica, Bernardaud, Jean Louis Coquet, Julisca, Pickard, and Reynaud.  Wow!!

We were thrilled and honored to be selected by Brock to design the invitations and gift tags for this momentous event.  We had the invitation letterpress printed by Dauphine Press on luxurious Crane Lettra stock in Espresso and Leaf inks.  We flat-printed the invitation to the exclusive preview in the store to match.  The invitation was then enclosed in a dreamy chocolate brown end-flap envelope, and hand-addressed in white ink,  topped off by a custom tulip postage stamp from Zazzle.

The gift tags for the guest gifts were also letterpress printed by Dauphine Press in espresso ink.

For a reaction to the invitation by an admiring invitee, see this blog post by designer Traci Zeller.  For photos of the event, see the post Brock Moran says ‘Welcome Home’ by the highly talented and ever-joyful Drea Cunningham of Casey Cunningham Photography.

Salutations Invitation Featured

We are thrilled to have one of our custom-designed wedding invitations featured on Smock Paper’s blog.  We had so much fun with bride Liz Francis helping her put together this really amazing wedding invitation set!  Smock is one of our very favorite vendors.  They offer the most exquisitely designed wedding invitations, all letterpress printed on eco-friendly bamboo paper.

It was a like-minded love of Smock that led Drea Cunningham of Casey Cunningham Photography to discover Salutations and are we ever glad she did!  Drea and husband Casey are two of the most talented wedding photographers we’ve come across.  Their blog In the Swim is wonderfully inspiring and showcases  beautifully their gifted talents, and their zest for a fun-filled life!
