Wedding Wednesday ~ Wedding Inspiration: Typography

Wedding invitation designs by Smock, Bella Figura and MaeMae Paperie.

Wedding invitation designs by Smock, Bella Figura and MaeMae Paperie.

You’ve seen it all over Pinterest and Style Me Pretty, so what exactly is typography? There are several definitions but my favorite is: “the general character or appearance of printed matter.”

I love to think of the ‘character’ of a wedding invitation. As a bride, the character of your wedding stationery should reflect you ~ what you’re made of, what’s important to you and how you want to present yourself {and your wedding!} to your closest family and friends. If you let your character shine through, your wedding invitations will not only be gorgeous, but uniquely you.

Make an appointment at either of our Charlotte or Durham, North Carolina locations to look at these and many other dazzling designs!

Further, we love how versatile the collection is. Designs range from classic {black and white in more traditional fonts} to whimsical {wild motifs and color combinations that will enchant recipients}. There isn’t a style that MaeMae doesn’t work with.

MaeMae also offers customers unique accessories that many designers do not. Brides can customize self-inking or rubber stamps to use on their wedding stationery and beyond, for example. These also make great gifts for paper enthusiasts!

We also love MaeMae’s profound attention to detail. It can be seen in the collections {think stunning patterned envelope liners and foil accents}, but also, and perhaps more importantly, in every aspect of the MaeMae wedding experience. Everything from the dynamic proofs to the packaging is attended to by the MaeMae team with extraordinary thought and care. The MaeMae experience is a truly stellar one that every bride deserves.

We love the use of herbs and natural tones above, combined with pink flowers. The overall look is soft and pretty, and we love the idea of giving herbs that match the meal/decor/theme to guests as favors!

Wedding Wednesday ~ Real Brides of the Triangle: Kate’s Dramatic Calligraphy Invitations

Salutations Real Brides Triangle Wedding Invitations Calligraphy Engraved

The story of Kate and Hunter’s engraved calligraphy invitations is a true testament to the importance and benefits of ordering wedding stationery from a fine stationery boutique like Salutations.

Kate and Hunter, who married in November at Fearrington Village, saw several options in invitations at their first bridal appointment. It wasn’t until they held one of our amazing samples in their hands that they knew exactly what they wanted: a heavy-weight, gilt-edge engraved suite by William Arthur, featuring all custom calligraphy.

The weight of the paper, the dramatic engraving bruises on the back, and the rich gilt edges stole their hearts. For their invitation suite, the couple worked with calligrapher Laura Luyendyk in Raleigh {a Salutations favorite} to further the rich, custom theme of their invitations.

The result was breathtaking. And the couple kept saying that this was an invitation that guests would receive, feel the weightiness, see the dramatic luxury, and say “We have to go to this wedding.”

We were so thrilled to work with this lovely couple in our Chapel Hill, North Carolina location to create their one-of-a-kind wedding invitations!

From Kate: “The Salutations team was a dream to work with!”

Congrats again, Kate and Hunter! You were a dream to work with! May your life together be as rich as your invitations looked and felt. All the best!

Wedding Wednesday: Blissful Inspiration ~ The Runway Edition

Salutations Wedding Stationery Runway

This week we are excited to feature some beautiful designer gowns in our runway edition of Blissful Inspiration! Twice a year in New York, every major bridal gown designer presents runway collections. It is then that the editors of all the major bridal magazines are able to forecast major trends not just in bridal fashion, but in the industry as a whole.

We love Bridal Fashion Week because we can forecast major trends in wedding stationery based on the hottest looks from the runway. This is our roundup of favorite looks from this fall’s runways, and the wedding invitations we think match up perfectly.

Salutations Wedding Stationery Bridal Runways

We are completely smitten with this Heidi Elnora gown (above)! The silhouette and lace detail give this gown a classic feel, while the subtle addition of color and enormous bow add drama. We love this gown most because it is season-less and would work well in so many different ceremony locations! It represents the classic-with-a-side-of-unexpected-drama trend.

Salutations Wedding Stationery Dauphine Press Letterpress Invitation

We would recommend this fabulous letterpress invitation by Dauphine Press (above, available at Salutations) to the bride drawn to this dress/trend. The Kentfield design is classic and timeless, but like the dress, the second color and graphic details add an unexpected twist.
